The PCE-DD-A durometer is an ergonomic device that checks Shore A hardness on rubber, plastic, rubber, synthetic rubber, soft cleaning rubber, casting resin, white PVC, leather, wax and other non-metallic materials. The PCE-DD D durometer is generally used for hard rubber, hard resin, acrylic, glass, thermoplastics, printing plates and fibers. There is no calibration option.

Shore Durometer Hardness Scale

The Shore durometers are specialized instruments for measuring the hardness of elastomers, plastics, and other polymer materials. The measurement is based on the resistance the material offers to the pressure of a standardized indenter, providing a direct indication of the elasticity and the structural strength of the specimen.

  • Scales: The most common are Shore A for soft elastomers (rubber, silicone) and Shore D for hard plastics and composite materials.
  • Applications: They are used in quality control of tires, gaskets, hoses, and in evaluating material aging.
  • Features: Available in analog or digital form, following international standards ASTM D2240 and ISO 868 to ensure repeatable measurements.
