The PCE-IDM 3D is a 3D digital microscope with its own user interface and built-in analysis functions. The live image and the interface are sent to a monitor over VGA; the supplied wireless mouse operates the software. Over USB the image goes straight to a PC, where the microscope is detected as a webcam for live streaming.

The 250 mm (9.8 in) focusing distance and the 305 x 225 mm (12 x 8.9 in) platform allow large objects to be magnified. LED lighting is steplessly adjustable. The microscope is quick to assemble and dismantle, so it can be used on the move.
