The PCE-Oe is a portable refractometer used by winemakers to determine the sugar content of unfermented grape juice to predict the alcohol content of the wine. This portable pocket refractometer features a triple scale allowing the user to see all three measurements simultaneously.

The high-quality eyepiece focus provides the image of an easy-to-read scale on a blue and fully transparent clear background. Ambient room lighting provides ample illumination for clear reading of results.

The Oechsle scale is a scale that measures the density of grape must, which indicates the ripeness of the grapes and the sugar content used in winemaking.

In Austria, the Klosterneuburger Mostwaage (KMW) scale is used. The scale is divided into Klosterneuburger Zuckergrade (° KMW), similar to the Oechsle scale (1 ° KMW = ~ 5 ° Oe). However, the KMW measures the exact sugar content of the must.

The Baumé scale is occasionally used in France and by US brewers, and the Brix scale is used to describe the readings of a refractometer when measuring the sugar content of a given sample.
