The PCE-WSAC 50W 230 is a wind speed alarm controller for monitoring wind load on cranes and wind turbines. It measures wind speed up to 50 m/s, so storm gusts are covered as well. An alarm relay triggers a pre-alarm or a main alarm. It can also be used to record and analyse wind conditions on site before a wind turbine is commissioned.

The sensor transmits by radio in the free 2.4 GHz band: up to 750 m / 2500 ft in open field, and up to 60 m / 200 ft when the display is mounted inside a building. A 4 ... 20 mA analogue output passes the readings to other controllers.

Anemometers

The anemometers are measuring instruments used to determine the speed and, in many cases, the direction of the wind. They are essential equipment for meteorology and industry, enabling accurate assessment of air masses and ensuring the safe operation of technical projects.

  • Types: They are classified into propeller (vane), anemometers with cups (cup), as well as thermal (hot-wire) or ultrasonic for high-sensitivity measurements.
  • Applications: They are used in navigation, monitoring HVAC systems, construction cranes, wind farms, and air sports.
  • Features: Modern digital anemometers provide measurements in multiple units (m/s, knots, km/h) and often calculate air flow (CMM/CFM) and temperature.
