View full detailsColorimeters or color meters are special photometers that measure color accurately. Different colors are classified based on color space systems. One of the color space systems used is CIELab (CIE L*a*b*). The CIELab system is a color space established by the International Commission on Illumination (CIE) in 1976. In CIELab, color differences are numerically determined using a device-independent three-dimensional color model. The model is objective and designed to reproduce what the human eye sees.
The colorimeters are specialized measuring instruments that determine the absorption of specific wavelengths of light by a solution. They are based on the Beer-Lambert law to correlate color intensity with the concentration of a substance, enabling the objective analysis of color parameters that the human eye cannot quantify accurately.
