Bore gauges are comparative instruments used to measure the inside diameter of cylinders. The bore gauge must first be set to the nominal value of the bore and then the deviation of the bore from the nominal value is measured. This is usually done with the help of a micrometer . For applications that require greater precision, 3-contact micrometers are used. Finally, for small holes, telescopic gages are used.
